Why should I get tested?


If you are showing any or all of the common symptoms of COVID-19, travelling or need to go for surgery.




How far in advance do I need to book a test?


Ideally, at least 3 days before you need your result.

What is a positive test result?


A positive result indicates the presence of SARS- CoV-2 (COVID-19). You should contact your doctor immediately for clinical guidance and management. Self-isolation is necessary for at least 10 days unless hospitalization is required. For further information in South Africa, you should contact National Department of Health and National Institute of Communicable Diseases. https://www.nicd.ac.za/ http://www.health.gov.za/ It is also recommended that all the people you have been in direct contact with in the recent past should undergo testing for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).




What is a negative test result?


A negative result means that SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) was not detected. Negative results do not necessarily exclude infection with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) and should not be the sole basis of a patient management decision. Retesting is advised if clinically indicated.




What does an 'undetermined' test result mean?


This indicates that the presence or absence of the SARS-CoV-2 RNA on the sample received could not be determine with certainty; most likely the result of the sample received containing a low viral load. We recommend retesting as soon as possible.
